Ventura Simmons is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) working to improve wellness throughout the Pittsburgh community. After graduating from Duquesne University with an M.S.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health, Ventura worked for the past six years with individuals coming from an array of backgrounds, challenges, circumstances, and stories. Having worked with medical professionals from diverse specialties Ventura brings a collaborative approach to community mental health.
Wellness encompasses more than just our emotional wellbeing but also identifies multiple areas of life that contribute to how we experience our world, relate to others, and understand ourselves. From the challenges of daily demands to adverse life experiences, it is not uncommon to find ourselves in a state of physical and emotional pain. Even after grand attempts to change present circumstances it can be difficult to know what to do, but it does not have to be this way.
Within his practice, Ventura believes it is important to approach wellness with both an understanding of each individual’s lived experience and the circumstances/impacts of their environment. Incorporating Evidenced-Based Interventions with culturally relevant approaches works to achieve more than relief from depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, stress, and relational challenges. Counseling strives to improve all areas of life and establish a deeper understanding of and allow for a more authentic expression of one’s self.
