Welcome- I’m glad you are here! If you are looking for a therapist who strives to create a warm, relaxed environment where you can share anything without judgement, I may be the right fit for you. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is transformative, empowering, and creating a safe space is essential to healing.
Background
I began my career working with children with autism and their families while studying Applied Developmental Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. I then transitioned to working within the family-based program and UPMC where I was the lead of an autism specialty team and provided in home structural family therapy. Concurrently, I obtained my MS in Applied Developmental Psychology at Pitt and my focus was working with neurodivergence. After this, I began working with young adults diagnosed with serious mental illness, including schizophrenia, as a community-based therapist. It was at this time that I decided to get my second MS in Counseling at Walden University to pursue working as an individual and family therapist. After graduation, I worked for 3 years in private practice before coming to AWC. I have structural family therapy training and certification and I’m currently in EMDR training and can provide EMDR therapy.
Therapeutic Style
My approach to counseling is eclectic, person-centered, affirming, genuine, and collaborative. Some of my specialties include: the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergence, trauma, depression, and anxiety. Treatment modalities that I frequently use in session are: CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT, somatic counseling, attachment/developmental work, and structural family therapy. As a parent, I also value exploring parental identity and normalizing the highs and lows of parenthood. I hope to embark on this journey with you and create a warm and supportive therapeutic relationship.
